History of Blue Rock |
BlueRock Productions was formed in the early 1990’s as its
founder Gregg P. Landry, transitioned out of the social work
field into the world of video production. He was helped along by
a degree in visual arts from UMBC and some hands-on training at
Baltimore Cable Access, mentored by longtime friend and
associate Dennis Roberts.
The development of BlueRock was a classic example of starting
small and taking advantage of opportunity.
Small jobs done well lead to larger opportunities, which
lead to more experience and better equipment.

No step in this process could have been made without the
assistance of long time colleague Christian Allen, and major
contributions from Roberts, Steve Landry, and Phil Rosensteel
and the long support of his wife Susan and his two sons.

He began working from the basement of his row house in south
Baltimore with tape-to-tape SVHS Linear editing, evolving to ¾
inch production, to finally BetacamSP SP, Digital video and
multiple non-linear editing capability.
From the basement, Gregg moved to a 600 square foot office in
Federal Hill for 2 years, then made the giant leap to BlueRock’s
current location, a 12,000 square foot facility in Northwest
Baltimore City.

The future looks bright at BlueRock as we continue to strive to
provide rock solid video solutions while being a good corporate
citizen and a strong partner in production.
